Let’s dive into the topic of color-boost touch-ups, even years later! This is a crucial discussion.

In the video, my client came in for a color-boost touch-up, yet she still retained over 40% of her original color and, most importantly, was pleased with the results even after two years. No touch-up necessary!
*I would like to note that I typically have all clients send a selfie so I can first determine if you’re ready for a touch-up

Since relocating to Reno nearly three years ago, I’ve had numerous potential clients contact me seeking touch-ups from other artists. Many of them were told by their previous artists that they needed to come in for a touch-up every year, or they would face higher charges if they delayed, even though they truly didn’t need one.

➡️ So, when should you consider a touch-up?
A touch-up is typically warranted when the color in the skin has faded to about 40% lighter. This can be subjective, so I encourage all clients to either send me photos or visit in person so we can evaluate together.

➡️ What can you expect from long-term permanent makeup for your brows?
We actually want the color to gradually fade and lighten over time. This gradual fading helps the color to diminish true to its original shade, and it allows for subtle adjustments to the shape as necessary over the years. Factors like skin type, sun exposure, topical products, and medications significantly impact how quickly color fades. It’s important to note that just because you’re using makeup to fill in your brows doesn’t mean you need a touch-up. Makeup sits on the skin’s surface, adding depth and texture while reflecting light differently, whereas permanent makeup is embedded in the skin, resulting in a flatter appearance.

➡️What are the potential consequences of getting a touch-up too soon?
This largely depends on the artist’s understanding of skin, color theory, pigment quality, and technique. If there’s still a sufficient amount of color in the skin and a touch-up is performed, there’s a risk of the color developing an undesirable muddy tone over time, which could necessitate removal or starting from scratch.

Clients dealing with alopecia hold a special place in my heart, especially the men who are without brows and come in for their initial session very nervous.

Eyebrows play a crucial role in shaping our identity, and for the men I’ve worked with, none have opted to use makeup to fill in their brows prior to, making the transformation truly life-changing for them.

When it comes to male clients seeking nano brows, I prefer a subtle approach with the hair pattern and color. I believe that simplicity yields the best results. During their perfecting touch-up session, I will then enhance the dimensions, add intricate details, and refine the overall shape.

For now, it’s all about taking gradual steps to help him see himself in a refreshed way with his new eyebrows.

This client had the quintessential over-plucked brow style from the 90s. When you’ve had a particular look for so long, it becomes a part of your identity, making change feel daunting. Despite her nerves, she was eager to embrace a new shape.

I opted for a conservative approach, ensuring that we didn’t stray too far from her natural brow shape while enhancing symmetry and creating a look that complements her facial features. It was all about taking gradual steps towards her new brow design.

Initially, the brows may appear a bit bold and warm in tone for the first few days. However, as they heal, the color will transition to a softer, more neutral shade, and the shape will slightly shrink and soften too.

This September marks a decade since I first stepped into the world of permanent makeup.

Say what?!?! Time truly flies when you’re having fun.

I often grapple with the feeling that I should have “achieved” more by now—full classes, a storefront with a team, my own line of products—the list goes on and on. However, my initial motivation for entering this field was to prioritize being a present mother above all else. Three years into my journey, we welcomed our third child. I’ve actually achieved so much more.

Throughout the years, I’ve been fortunate to encounter incredible opportunities and experiences. I’ve always chosen to progress at a pace that feels right for me and my family, ensuring I don’t take on too much and avoid burnout.

To those who are just starting out or who resonate with my journey, I encourage you to stay authentic to yourself.

We WANT the pigment to gradually lighten over time. This allows for the color to stay true to color, and for us to adjust the color and shape over time as needed. 😌

She received brow lamination, tint and shaping. For these two services you have to keep the eyebrows dry for 24 hours before washing them. After 24 hours, you can wash, from the brows and apply the provided keratin oil then apply makeup if desired.

Tint always looks a bit bold when freshly applied. Once washed, the tint softens and the brow hair will be softer and more flexible.

🗓️ Schedule accordingly

✨ Tint lasts up to 7 days on the skin and up to 2 weeks on the eyebrow hair.
✨Lamination lasts about 6 weeks when properly cared for.

The vermilion border is the distinctive edge of the lips, where the melanated part of the lip meets the surrounding skin. It’s often referred to as the outline of the lips and plays a crucial role in defining shape and appearance.

Tattooing outside of the vermilion border of the lips is generally not advised for a few reasons:

1. Aesthetics: The vermilion border is a natural boundary that defines the lips’ shape. Tattoos outside this area can create unnatural lines and distort the appearance.

2. Healing and Infection: The skin outside the vermilion border is thinner and more sensitive, making it more prone to complications during healing.

3. Visibility and Longevity: Tattoos can fade over time, and those outside the defined border may result in a discolored or blurry appearance as they age, leading to a less desirable outcome.

Tattooing beyond the natural lip line IS permissible in cases of reconstructive work due to injuries or trauma affecting the lips. In these cases, it can be a very desirable improvement for the client!

Her natural upper lip color was slightly cool and darker to begin with. In this case, I had to subtly neutralize the upper lip. A third session might be needed to then blend the lower lip tone and add more color!

When neutralizing cooler patchy undertones in the lips, the process must be trusted and have patience.

It’s worth it! 🤝💕
